For trend-following traders who want to filter out chop-driven false signals, it quickly tells you whether to act when you can't tell if the market is trending or ranging.
The Trend Quality indicator uses Kaufman's Efficiency Ratio (ER) to tell whether the market is in a real trend or just chopping back and forth, so you can skip the false signals.
ER divides net price movement by total volatility, giving a number from 0.0 to 1.0. A reading near 1.0 means price is moving efficiently in one direction (a strong trend); near 0.0 means price is just churning in place, mostly noise. The indicator plots this value as a colored histogram in its own sub-window, so a quick glance tells you whether it's worth acting.
